TAMPA - The Mr. Snuggles case returns to court this afternoon.
A disposition involving the dog's former owner, Amy Chantarak, is set for 1:30 p.m. today.
Chantarak was arrested in May after police found her dog, then named Mr. Snuggles, locked in her car in Ikea's parking lot during the home furnishing store's grand opening.
A disposition on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty is scheduled for today, Chantarak's 20th birthday.
Chantarak has pleaded not guilty.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of a year in the Hillsborough County jail.
The dog was taken by Hillsborough County Animal Services officers and was adopted to a new home after Chantarak surrendered ownership last month. The new owners renamed the dog Teddy.
