Tampa man charged with sexual battery on 7-year-old

TAMPA - An 18-year-old Tampa man molested a 7-year-old relative, Tampa police say.

Police arrested Mercedes Faggett, 18, on Sunday. He was charged with sexual battery on a victim 12 or younger.

The 7-year-old boy told police that Faggett entered his room, took him into the living room and forced him to have sex, according to a Tampa police report. The boy was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Faggett remains in Falkenburg Road Jail. His bail has not been set.
