Former University of South Florida men's basketball coach Robert McCullum is coming back to USF – as a University of Central Florida assistant.
McCullum has been hired at UCF, ESPN.com reported. McCullum will make his coaching return in Tampa when the Bulls host UCF on Dec. 16.
McCullum was fired at USF after four seasons. He was 40-76 overall, including 10-54 in two years each in Conference USA and the Big East from 2003-07. After that, he was an assistant at the University of San Francisco under Eddie Sutton during the second half of 2007-08 season.
This summer, McCullum also was a finalist to be an assistant at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, but Coach Perry Clark hired Cy Alexander.
