OSHKOSH, Wis. - Virgin Group's billionaire chairman Richard Branson says he hopes to have a spaceship ready in time to take his 92-year-old father and 89-year-old mother into space with him.
He said Monday he promised they could come.
Branson is at the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture convention. He spoke to The Associated Press while waiting for Virgin Galactic's WhiteKnightTwo to land.
That plane is designed to carry a spacecraft to 50,000 feet, where the spaceship will then detach and rocket into space.
Branson says most people never thought this would ever be a reality.
He says he still pinches himself when he realizes he's only a couple of years away from becoming an astronaut.
