A car's passenger was seriously injured this afternoon when the force from a collision on Interstate 275 sent the car he was in through the guardrail and off the highway, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
The collision happened between a small gray SUV in the right lane and a small red sedan about 1:50 p.m. on northbound I-275 north of Busch Boulevard, spokesman Bill Wade said. The drivers of both cars had minor injuries and were treated at the scene, Wade said.
The sedan's passenger was taken to Tampa General Hospital.
