JACKSONVILLE - Gov. Charlie Crist has signed bills to help Florida National Guard troops and state veterans nursing homes.
Crist signed them Monday at the Wounded Warriors TRACK Center in Jacksonville, which provides injured veterans with a broad range of services.
One bill (HB 635) guarantees that deployed guardsmen keep the seniority they would have earned in their civilian jobs when they return.
Another (HB 685) adds private colleges to an education program for guard members. It also expands eligibility to master's degrees and troops with more than 15 years of service.
A third bill (HB 509) is expected to increase the nursing homes' share of money from veterans and military specialty license plates by $250,000.
