Tampa Catholic quarterback Christian Green and defensive lineman Chaz Green have been invited to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the Under Armour All-American High School Football Game, respectively, Crusaders football coach Bob Henriquez said Monday.
Both games spotlight the nation's top high school seniors on national television and are played in January. National recruiting analysts and talent evaluators select the squad and select the top 80 recruits for each game. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been played in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and the Under Armour game at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
"Clearly, they're both national recruits and great athletes," Henriquez said. "But they're also national recruits character-wise and that's more important than anything else."
Henriquez said there's a good chance the 6-foot-6, 275-pound Chaz Green will also get an offer to play in the Army game. During spring drills, Henriquez said more than 70 college scouts came through TC's training sessions to see not only the Greens, but also several other Crusaders who are rising seniors, including running back Henry McCloud, defensive backs Jeremi Wilkes and Chris Lundy and quarterback/receiver D.J. Williams.
