PONTIAC, Mich. - A teenager in suburban Detroit has apologized for lighting a man's pants on fire and causing a third-degree burn to the man's groin.
Eighteen-year-old Tyler Quick spoke Tuesday before the judge sentenced him to probation. He pleaded guilty last month to assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder.
Police say Quick attended a party at the Ferndale home of a 51-year-old man, who passed out during the party.
The Detroit Free Press reports Quick told the judge he painted the man's face with makeup, then put a lit candle on the man's pants to help illuminate his work.
If Quick successfully completes probation, the conviction may be removed from his record.
