Manatee County deputies are investigating two robberies that occurred within minutes of each other late Wednesday and involved victims who were outside their homes talking on cell phones.

One robbery occurred at 11 p.m. in the parking lot of The Groves Apartments, 723 44th Ave. E., in Bradenton, deputies said. A 19-year-old man was outside talking on his cell phone and was grabbed from behind by one robber while another snatched $100 from the victim's right rear pocket, deputies said. The attackers fled on foot. The victim was not injured.

Deputies said the two robbers were with two other men, but no descriptions were given.

The other heist occurred at 10:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of 62nd Avenue Drive East, deputies said.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, was outside his home talking on a cell phone when he was approached by two men who began to beat him, deputies said. One of the attackers ripped the victims pocket and took property and cash valued at $490, deputies said.

The two robbers fled in a light-color Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Marquis.

The victim was not injured. One attacker was described as being black, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. The other was described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. Both wore white tank tops and jean shorts, deputies said.
