NEW PORT RICHEY - Is a Pasco County inmate trying to reach out to you?
You might get some static. Literally.
The Land O' Lakes Jail's phone system is experiencing technical difficulties, said sheriff's office spokesman Kevin Doll. Sometimes that means an inmate's phone call won't go through and other times it means the line is dominated by static so annoying and loud the caller can't hear.
The problem might have some residual effects that come when those on the receiving end of the line get the collect-call bill for a phone call they couldn't hear, Doll said.
Those who have received such a call can inquire about the billing by contacting the phone-service provider at 1-800-844-6591.
Phone service, however, should be back to normal by June 10 after new equipment is installed Monday, Doll said.
