Tampa's own technology showcase is off to a promising start. Organizers of the CoolTech exhibition expect close to 1,000 attendees and 45 exhibitors, roughly twice the scale of the show's first incarnation last year.
Thursday's show will be at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and will give Tampa-area technology companies a chance to promote their inventions. Among them:
•Barking Snail, a Tampa start-up that builds digital signs and runs advertising systems, including large LED displays and portable media players.
•SportsCam Video Systems, which builds video camera systems built into helmets to capture extreme sports from the player's perspective.
•Rehab Ideas, which develops off-road wheelchairs and other accessibility machines.
Mark Gordon, president of Odyssey Marine Exploration and subject of the Discovery Channel's hit show Treasure Quest, will be a guest speaker.
For a keynote, the show will have Philip Holt, general manager of Electronic Arts' Tiburon Studio in Orlando, which has created game titles such as Madden NFL Football.
Tickets are $30, with discounts for students. For information, visit http://TBTF.org.
