TAMPA - A line of thunderstorms extending from Sumter County to the mouth of Tampa Bay is pounding West Central Florida with rain, gusting winds and lightning right now. The heavy weather is expected to push east at 10-15 mph and last until about 2:30 p.m., according to a forecast from the National Weather Service in Ruskin.
Heavy rain and with winds gusting up to 40 mph are buffeting the area and lightning is popping, from Webster to St. Petersburg, forecasters say.
A 30 percent chance of rain is expected across the Bay area until about midnight, forecasters say.
