Polk deputies are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that hit a man as he was crossing the street with his son and two others early Sunday morning.
Pedro Salas, 46, was crossing the street from a neighbor's house to his home at 403 Snively Ave., Eloise, about 2:12 a.m. when an eastbound pickup truck hit Salas and rolled over him, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
The truck driver then fled the scene, deputies said. Salas was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he is in critical condition.
Deputies say a man was driving the red full-size pickup truck, possibly a Ford F-series or Nissan Titan.
Deputies ask anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office at (863) 534-6200 or 1-800-226-0344.
Anyone who wants to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Heartland CrimeStoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477) or go www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com.
