Apple Inc. unveiled a faster iPhone and slashed the price for an entry-level phone in half to counter Palm's new Pre. The company also rolled out laptops for $300 less than previous models Monday.
EVOLUTIONARY: The new iPhone isn't revolutionary. It is faster, however, and offers a better camera and, for the first time, video recording. It also includes applications such as a compass, better battery life and voice control, which will play a song or make a call on command.
COST: The entry level, 8-gigabyte 3G phone's price was cut in half to $99; the new 16-gigabyte 3G S model costs $199, and the 32-gigabyte phone costs $299 (with contracts).
