TAMPA - University of South Florida senior defensive end George Selvie will receive a special presentation from the Tampa Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity in conjunction with The Crescent Foundation.
Spokesman Philip Harris said Selvie would receive a special presentation at the fourth annual Scholarship and Community Awards Banquet Saturday at noon at the Marshall Center ballroom on USF's campus.
Others honored include this year's Charles H. Odom and Dr. Sam Horton Scholarship recipients: James Jackson, a Tampa Bay Tech senior and Michael Holmes, a Clearwater senior; and Gamma Eta Sigma Chapter Book Stipend recipients: Kuvawn Phelps, a Tampa Bay Tech senior, and Donzell Jenkins, a Tampa Bay Tech senior.
Indianapolis Colts tight ends coach Ricky Thomas is the keynote speaker. Erica Riggins, of Bay News 9, is the honorary chairman and mistress of ceremony.
The Crescent Foundation targets males, ages 13-18, and endeavors to provide activities and programs intended to assist them in their efforts to excel in contemporary society, focusing on their home, cultural, athletic, social and educational needs.
