TAMPA - One week after crashing his Suzuki Boulevard into a taxi cab, Bucs defensive end Stylez G. White says he's putting his passion for riding motorcycles on hold for a while.

Unfortunately for the Bucs, White is also being forced to put his football career on hold for a while.

Still sore from the injuries he sustained during an accident last Tuesday, the Bucs leading sack getter the last two years says he is probably done with workouts for this offseason.

"Believe it or not, I'm still sore,'' White said Wednesday. "I've got some really deep bruises. I mean, I did a couple of flips and was just rolling down the street on Kennedy [Blvd.] there.

"So I'm going to miss some practice time. We'll see about next week's [three-day mandatory minicamp], but I probably won't do anything there either. It'll probably training camp before I'm back, but I'll be ready then.''

White sustained mostly bumps and bruises when he had to lay his bike down to avoid a more serious collision with a taxi cab that he says pulled out in front of him on the road.

White says he's been told repeatedly that he's lucky he wasn't injured worse, but he says the accident would have occurred even if he was driving a car and not riding a motorcycle.

"The thing is, it wasn't because I was on a motorcycle that there was an accident,'' White said. "The [other driver] wasn't paying attention and he pulled out in front of me.

"But I got launched, man. I mean, I was about 10 feet from my bike when I stopped rolling. I hit my head but I had my helmet on. It just all happened so fast.''

White, who came to the Bucs following a breakout season in the Arena League in 2007, has not participated in the Bucs "voluntary'' workouts since the crash. He says his bike is in worse shape than he is.

"I'm doing some therapy right now,'' he said. "The bike – it's at the junkyard. And it was a sweet bike, too. I had all the bells and whistles on it. Had chrome wheels. And I will ride again. After I'm done playing.''

That will be welcomed news to the Bucs. White has 13 sacks the last two years and they're expecting him to add significantly to that mark in 2009. Despite the setback, White is hoping to do the same thing.

"The new scheme we have, it's a fun scheme, because it's sort of like controlled chaos,'' White said. "They're more or less turning us loose as pass rushers, which is nice.''
