A St. Petersburg police officer had minor injuries this afternoon when his marked patrol cruiser was struck by another vehicle.
Officer Steve Laurenzi was responding to an emergency call and was going north on 15th Street about 2:47 p.m. when he crossed the intersection with Fourth Avenue and was hit by a minivan, St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa said.
Laurenzi was taken to a local hospital. Three people in the van were taken to All Children's Hospital, and two others were taken to Bayfront Medical Center. The injuries are not life-threatening, Kajtsa said.
