TAMPA - City government has entered the online world of social networking.
In an effort to modernize its communication with the public, Tampa officials have joined Twitter, a Web-based messaging service accessible on a wide variety of devices, allows the city to send out brief, real-time messages — or "tweets" — of interest to the public.
Liana Lopez, director of the city's public affairs department, said the city will be posting links to its Website with press releases about upcoming events and other information.
The city's Twitter page can be found at www.twitter.com/tampapad -- an acronym for Tampa's Public Affairs Division.
"The city of Tampa was already taken, but we don't know by who," Lopez said.
