Pills, phony bills and bogus prescriptions were found today in the pockets of a Lakeland man accused of counterfeiting U.S. currency, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Detectives, along with the U.S. Secret Service, served a search warrant this afternoon at the home of Todd Allan Willis, 31, of 4023 South Sugar Creek Drive, Lakeland. Authorities say Willis had 11 counterfeit bills — a $20 bill, a $100 bill and nine $50 bills — along with Xanax and Oxycodone pills, fake prescriptions for the painkillers and a straw with methamphetamine residue in it.
Secret Service agents seized a computer, related equipment, household chemicals used to make counterfeit money and other bills found inside the house, sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Eleazer said.
Willis is being booked at Polk County Jail on the drug and counterfeiting charges. He will be held without bail, Eleazer said.
The Temple Terrace Police Department tipped off the Secret Service about Willis' alleged activities, Eleazer said.
The investigation is ongoing.
