TAMPA - Hillsborough County commissioners will look for ways to close a $144 million budget gap at a workshop today at 1:30 p.m.
The focus of the meeting will be child-care licensing, after-school recreation and animal protection, three programs proposed for deep cuts or elimination under county administrator Pat Bean's budget. The three programs were the most mentioned by residents who attended a Tuesday night public hearing on the budget.
The workshop will be in the Fred B. Karl County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., in the second floor board room. Residents can attend or view the workshop on county television, Bright House channel 622 or Verizon and Comcast channel 22, or on live streaming video on the county Web site, www.hillsboroughcounty.org. There is no public comment during the workshops.
Other workshops are scheduled for June 18, July 16, July 22, July 29 (if needed) and July 31.
