In your editorial on health care ("Health care needs to be reformed," June 7) you state, "We don't want a nationalized system." Why not? In 2007, 62 percent of bankruptcies were due to medical bills. Of those, 75 percent had health insurance. This is the private, for-profit health insurance system you want to keep?
Of all nations, the United States spends the most on health care, 14.6 percent of the GDP. It costs GM $1,500 more to make a car in Detroit than in Windsor, Ontario, where Canada has single-payer health care.
How many other jobs are we losing because other countries have single-payer and we don't? We are already paying for single-payer health care - we're just not getting it.
