TAMPA - Rising senior Maurice Hagens, Tampa Bay Tech's No. 1 football recruit, verbally committed to the University of Miami, Titans coach C.C. Culpepper said.
"He and his family went down to Miami and they met with some of the university's big names, including the head of the engineering department," Culpepper said. "The great thing about Mo is that he has a great, supportive family and they made sure Miami was going to give him the education he wants first."
On the football field, the bruising 6-foot-1, 225-pound fullback has led TBT in rushing the past two seasons, gaining 1,362 yards as a sophomore and 1,019 last fall. He also scored 23 touchdowns during that period.
Hagens also had offers from Arkansas, Notre Dame, Iowa, Kansas, Connecticut, Wake Forest, Clemson, Louisiana State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Iowa and Purdue.
