ERIE, Pa. - A Florida man wanted by police in the death of his 6-month-old son has been arrested in Pennsylvania.
Hector Jaiman III, 29, was arrested by U.S. Marshals on Monday at a home in Erie. He is to be extradited to Tampa where he faces aggravated child abuse and first-degree murder charges.
Jaiman was being held at the Erie County prison on $500,000 bond.
Investigators there accused him of killing his then-5-month-old son while the child was in his care between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2008. The child was injured in an apartment at 1222 Rivage Circle in Brandon when the father was in sole custody of the boy, deputies say.
An autopsy revealed major trauma to the abdomen of the child, Hector Jaiman IV.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death to be battered baby syndrome with rib fractures.
