NEW PORT RICHEY - Following a 16-0 regular season, the West Pasco Yankees swept the Tournament of Champions playoffs to capture the District 12 Little League championship.
In a display of power that would make the Bronx Bombers envious, the Yankees outscored their opponents 194-43 during the regular season and 46-9 in the playoffs.
Pitchers Eddie Davies, Adam Arrowood and Nick Feeney combined to shut out Oldsmar 14-0 in the finale.
The Yankees are coached by Eddie Davies, Jeff Stantz, Scott Feeney and Roger Bratcher.
"We started this team young," Davies said. "Being an expansion team last spring, we were the new kids on the block. We drafted young, mostly 13-year-olds in a 13-14 league."
This was an emotional victory, according to Davies.
"With most of the boys moving up to the Senior League or high school teams next season, this was their last opportunity to play together as a team," he said. "But they went out on top."
