TAMPA - A 41-year-old Tampa man sustained an electrical shock Tuesday at a construction site and was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital, deputies say.
About 3 p.m. Tuesday, Randall Hamilton, who worked for Florida Safety Contractors, was helping with a boom truck working along the roadway in the 5200 block of Causeway Boulevard.
"The victim was on the ground holding a chain draped over a metal box that had been removed from the ground and placed on to the bed of a truck," a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release states.
During this, the boom's operator struck overhead power lines with the boom, deputies say.
Hamilton suffered an electrical shock and was taken to Tampa General. He was pronounced dead about 3:30 p.m.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
