TAMPA - A nasty series of storms moving from north to south peppered the Bay area with heavy rain, strong winds and some hail.
The storms began around Levy and Hernando counties in the mid-afternoon and moved south for the next couple hours. The worst weather now is around Manatee County.
In Riverview, the storm ripped some solar panels off roofs and knocked down some small trees and fences.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Ruskin say there were reports of hail in Levy County.
The system has already produced large storms in Georgia and the Florida Panhandle.
As the system move south, it is being met by hot temperatures, high dew points and a sea breeze and that only adds to the intensity of the storms.
