TAMPA - Charlotte, N.C.-based Bank of America plans to lay off 81 employees in Tampa, according to a notice it filed with Florida regulators.
The affected employees work at an administrative office at 5301 Idlewild Ave. in Tampa and will be let go between Aug. 14 and Nov. 27, according to a notice filed with the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.
The notice comes after the bank merged with Merrill Lynch and announced in December it would cut 30,000 to 35,000 positions within three years.
The layoff reflects the merger and the weak economic environment, said Nicole Nastacie, company spokeswoman.
The reductions are coming from both companies and affect all lines of business and staff units, Nastacie said. As many reductions as possible will be made through attrition.
Workers who are not offered other positions in the combined company will receive a severance package, Nastacie said.
