TAMPA - The nation's largest airlines improved their on-time arrivals performance nationwide to 79.1 percent of flights in April compared with 77.7 percent a year ago, while arrivals performance at Tampa International Airport increased to 81.4 percent from 78.7 percent, the federal Bureau of Transportation reported.
On-time departure performance at Tampa International declined to 82.9 percent of flights in April year-over-year from 83.2 percent.
Tampa's airport ranked 15th nationwide in April in both arrivals and departures performance.
On-time flights are regarded as those within 15 minutes of schedule.
The Bureau of Transportation reported 46 flights in April held passengers on the tarmac for delays of more than three hours after the plane taxied out for takeoff. None of those delays involved Tampa flights.
