WESLEY CHAPEL - A 56-year-old Wesley Chapel man was killed after losing control of his van early Friday near the entrance of Wesley Chapel High School, where his vehicle overturned and ejected the man, who was not wearing a seat belt, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The wreck occurred on Wells Road about 2 a.m., troopers said.
Felix Carreras Jr. of Wesley Chapel was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
Carreras was eastbound on Wells Road in a 2006 Chevrolet van when he failed to navigate a left curve just east of Boyette Road, troopers said.
The van veered off the pavement. When Carreras attempted to correct, the vehicle began to slide. It then struck a raised curb, overturned and rolled several times, ejecting Carreras, troopers said.
