DADE CITY - A Pasco deputy was shot at Monday night but uninjured after he responded to a call near a low-income housing project.
Deputy Steven Napoleon, 37 was investigating the call of shots fired near Acorn Loop and 14th Street when he spotted a man walking down the street around 10:30 p.m., said sheriff's office spokesman Kevin Doll.
The man pointed a gun at him and Napoleon jumped back in his patrol car. As he was starting to back away, the man fired at him once, then ran away, Doll said.
The bullet did not hit Napoleon nor the patrol car. He didn't return fire, Doll said.
Deputies responded to the scene and set up a perimeter around the housing project and unsuccessfully searched for the shooter, Doll said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the sheriff's office tips line at 1-800-706-2488. Callers can remain anonymous.
