TAMPA - The lead designer of the Chevy Camaro, the hot sports car that endeared itself to fans of the 2007 blockbuster, "Transformers," will visit a local dealership today to help promote the sequel.
Humberto Ortiz is visiting Ferman Chevrolet of Tampa ahead of Wednesday's premiere of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
A Camaro called Bumblebee was one of the four-wheeled stars of the Transformers movies.
Ortiz is the head of creative design for Chevy, and his visit to Ferman Chevrolet includes a giveaway of passes for a private screening of the "Transformers" sequel at AMC Regency 20, 2496 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon.
Ortiz will be at Ferman, 9751 Adamo Drive, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The visit will also include a giveaway of "Transformer" comic books and a drawing for a scale model of the 2010 Camaro.
At 3:30 p.m., Ortiz will be at the AMC Regency, where there will be a track set up for licensed drivers 21 and older to take a spin in the new Camaro. Ortiz and the Camaro will be at the theater until 6:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
