Lakeland police are searching for a man they say met a woman online, then attacked her with a baseball bat.

Fernando Soliz, 37, who police say was residing in Kissimmee, met the Lakeland woman on an Internet site. Police say Soliz then traveled to her house and began hitting her with a baseball bat after she demanded that Soliz leave. The attack left the woman with serious injuries.

Police describe Soliz as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds with long braided black hair and a tattoo on the back of his neck reading "Popeye." He was last seen wearing tennis shoes with red shoelaces.

Police consider Soliz armed and dangerous and are advising people not to approach him.

Anyone with information should call (863) 834-6900 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477).
