The University of South Florida St. Petersburg was surprised last summer with word that it was being placed on probation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Today that cloud was lifted.
USF St. Petersburg had failed to achieve success in two of 89 standards required for accreditation: evaluation of the general education program and the evaluation of student success. But after a visit last month by a special committee, the commission removed the sanction.
Interim Regional Chancellor Margaret Sullivan said the USF St. Petersburg had "completed the necessary work to demonstrate compliance. The faculty is to be commended for this outstanding response to the Commission on Colleges."
