BRANDON - As part of its Operation3D Heightened Patrol, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will set up a DUI checkpoint tonight at Bell Shoals Road and Bloomingdale Avenue.
The checkpoint will take place from 10 tonight until 5 a.m. Saturday, with a blood-alcohol test van and booking area set up in the parking lot of a Publix supermarket.
Hillsborough County leads Florida for alcohol-related fatalities and traffic crashes involving impaired drivers.
The goal of the checkpoint, sheriff's officials say, is to reduce the number of crashes and deter driving violations.
