NEW PORT RICHEY - If you're going to be sipping cocktails tonight, make sure you have a designated driver.
New Port Richey police officers and Pasco County sheriff's deputies will be using a checkpoint to find drivers under the influence of alcohol.
The checkpoint will be in the vicinity of Congress Street and Pine Hill Road from 8 to 10 p.m. There will be random stops.
The goal is to get impaired drivers off the road before they cause crashes, police said.
The golden rule of alcohol consumption, authorities say, is don't drive - designate a driver, take public transportation or call a taxi.
