Where are the jobs?

The Democrats are telling us that 3 million jobs have been saved or created since the stimulus was passed. Seeing as we are now at almost 10 percent unemployment nationwide, can Congress and Vice President Joe Biden show us a list of these jobs?

Rays in Tampa

While the world morns the "King of Pop", Michael Jackson, I feel compelled to write about something very close to my heart - the Rays!

It seems that the era of Rays' ownership living in denial about attendance at the Trop has finally come to a conclusion.

After the Phillies' series it became obvious that the Trop sits in the "no man's land" of St Petersburg, far, far away from the namesake of the team.

What a concept it is to have the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa! Though the mayor of St Petersburg thinks he has total control over the franchise, we quietly understand that he is mistaken.

It's so pleasing for Rays' management to finally understand what we, the fans, have known all along. A stadium in Hillsborough will produce a younger population that has more money. Fans will come from many new areas that have been totally left out of the fun.

Mysterious health plans

Three health programs are presently wending their way through the U.S. House and the Senate.

One has some specificity and an estimated $1.6 trillion addition to the federal debt, but with all that money it covers only about one-fourth of those now uninsured.

A second plan under consideration insures more people but has no dollar estimates.

And details of the third plan aren't far along enough to be released.

When President Barack Obama talks about our need to immediately start a federal health care program, does he or the Congress have any idea what type of plan they are talking about? Who is covered? How much does it cost? Who pays? Who gains? Who loses?

Will the plan make health care better or worse?

Nobody knows anything about the program, but daily the president tells us that we "must have it now."

Obama promotes his health care program very well, but it is obvious that he doesn't know what he is talking about.
