WASHINGTON - The Washington Redskins have released defensive end Jason Taylor, one year after signing the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
The 34-year-old Taylor, who missed three games last year due to injuries, would have earned about $8 million this season.
He declined the Redskins' request to add a clause to his contract requiring him to participate in 25 of 39 days in the team's offseason workout program. His 120.5 career sacks are the most among active NFL players. But he had just 3.5 last season.
Taylor spent his first 11 seasons with Miami and was acquired in a trade from the Dolphins on July 20, 2008.
BENGALS: Linebacker Darryl Blackstock agreed to stay with Cincinnati, and the team re-signed defensive lineman Orien Harris.
BRONCOS: Denver signed former University of Florida linebacker Andra Davis, who spent seven seasons with the Browns.
CARDINALS: Arizona signed free-agent safety Keith Lewis to a two-year contract. Lewis was waived by San Francisco last month.
The team also announced it had re-signed punter Ben Graham to a two-year contract and backup quarterback Brian St. Pierre to a one-year deal. Terms weren't disclosed.
DOLPHINS: Defensive end Vonnie Holliday has been released after four seasons with Miami.
49ERS: Kurt Warner is being courted by an eager division rival of the Cardinals.
The 49ers sent a private jet Monday for the two-time MVP quarterback, who traveled from Phoenix to the team's training complex in Santa Clara, Calif., for a physical exam and a meeting with top brass.
Warner led the Cardinals to the Super Bowl last season, but became a free agent when he didn't re-sign with the club. Arizona has offered a two-year, $20 million contract to Warner, who will be 38 years old when training camp opens.
Also, San Francisco re-signed fullback Moran Norris to a three-year contract, welcoming back the burly run-blocker after releasing him last summer. Norris, an eight-year NFL veteran, played for the 49ers from 2006-07.
LIONS: Detroit signed free-agent receiver Bryant Johnson to a three-year contract. He had 45 receptions for 546 yards and three touchdowns last year for the 49ers.
PATRIOTS: New England signed tight end Chris Baker, who played seven seasons with the Jets, and re-signed offensive lineman Russ Hochstein.
PRO BOWL: The state tourism board of Hawaii will reconsider the NFL's offer to return the Pro Bowl to Hawaii in 2011 and '12, a bid that was voted down last week.
SEAHAWKS: Free-agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh has agreed to terms with Seattle, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.
The deal is for five years for $40 million, with $15 million guaranteed.
