TAMPA - K-9 Down, a specialized program for professional dog handlers and emergency rescue personnel, finished up a two-day training session Sunday at Florida Veterinary Specialists.
This year's event drew 34 people from across the state, said Gail Moore, the program's administrator.
Typical participants in the program include sheriff's deputies and federal agents.
The first day of the seminar teaches about how to treat injuries in the field.
The second day offers hands-on demonstrations that teach handlers how to deal with emergencies ranging from gunshot wounds to burns or poisoning.
