Obama Listens To Us

Let's give President Obama at least a B+. The Republicans are upset with him, the Democrats are upset with him and the lobbyists are upset with him. How refreshing that the president is listening to the America people with a 65 percent approval rating and not the establishment good old boys and girls.

Thank you Mr. President for breaking the mold. Go for it and, as they say, just do it.

Rail Requires Wise Cuts

Mayor Pam Iorio's appeal for a penny tax to support light rail was well written. However, I'd like to see the county prioritize the money it has and remove unnecessary programs. Whether it's courting tourists with the creation of Riverwalk, the baffling deficit from Buddy Johnson's reign, or a plethora of malpositioned speed bumps that weren't approved by the community, I want both the city and the county to prove to me it can wisely spend our money.

What are they willing to sacrifice? We don't ask our employer for a raise because we need a new roof on our house. We ask for a raise when we have done our job well.

Don't Censor Airwaves

I knew that if I was patient, I would see the regularly published lefty, wing-nut submission from Scott Cochran (On Air Equality - March 1.)

Anyone with half a brain understands that governmental control/censoring of airwaves reeks of fascism. Liberal Dems only need three elements to compete with talk radio: sponsors, an informative and entertaining commentator and, most importantly, a viable listening audience. They have tried it numerous times and failed miserably, being left with only National Public Radio, non-cable TV news & the majority of the print media to promulgate their message.
