This morning, Jason Mesnick of "The Bachelor" is one of two things: an honest man willing to admit a mistake or a dog.
Have at it. We're curious to hear what you have to say.
And, yes, we realize this is frivolous, but it's better than whining about the economy or the weather.
Monday night, in the advertised conclusion of the ABC reality show, Mesnick sent "passionate" Molly packing. He admitted he'd fallen for both women left standing from the cache of singles looking for love (on TV!), but he had to make a choice.
He picked Melissa to be his bride, and Molly made it clear before she left that he'd made a terrible mistake.
After she was gone, Mesnick dramatically doubled over in tears. For the record, this dude cries a lot. Just an observation.
Later he got down on one knee and proposed to the "ultimate woman": Melissa. She said yes, literally jumping with glee after he declared his love.
It was apparently shortlived.
During the hourlong "After the Rose" special, where Melissa was put in a soundproof room, Mesnick told "Bachelor" host Chris Harrison that things had changed in the six weeks since the finale was filmed.
He said he and Melissa had spent time together during the holidays and that the chemistry between them wasn't what it had been. Mesnick also said he was spending a lot of time thinking about Molly, the woman whose heart he had broken.
Bottom line: He changed his mind.
When he finally spoke to Melissa, Mesnick – as sensitively as one can with a host, camera operators and production crew on set – set her free or dumped her, depending where you fall on the honest guy/dog meter.
Melissa was expectedly angry, asking why he bothered to propose, gave him back the engagement ring and ultimately called him "a bastard" before she left.
When a wary Molly appeared on the after-show, Mesnick owned up to his change of heart saying he wanted to try again with her. Obviously confused with the turnaround, Molly questioned him but very quickly declared her feelings hadn't changed and she'd be willing to try again. (Who knows why? We don't understand these women.)
"This is something that I dreamed about but never expected to hear," Molly said.
See, love wins, right? Well, reality show love, anyway. Bleah.
