Couple Had Sex In Bradenton Park, Police Say

MANATEE COUNTY - A homeless man and a Bradenton woman were arrested Wednesday after a jogger reported the pair was having sex at a park in sight of children, the Bradenton Police Department said.

John J. Silvia, 59, and Betty Jo Leonardson, 39, were arrested on a misdemeanor charge of lewd and lascivious behavior in the 6:20 p.m. sex act.

An officer, responding to a jogger's complaint, approached the couple as they were having sex at Rossi Waterfront Park in the 100 block of Ninth Street W.

Silvia and Leonardson were startled and stopped having intercourse.

There were no reports that children saw the act, but the report states there were children in a playground about 150 feet away.
