A Largo man arrested Wednesday on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a car resulting in injury had a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit, according to a Tampa police arrest report.
Police took two readings from Leonard Norville Wooten, 62, which showed he had a blood alcohol level of .318 and .326, the arrest report states. Florida law presumes impairment at 0.08.
Wooten, of 1025 Clearwater Largo Road, was also charged with DUI with property damage.
Police say Wooten was driving a 2001 Mazda van Wednesday night when he struck another vehicle near Dale Mabry Highway and Azeele Street. Wooten drove away from the crash, police say. The collision caused about $200 in damage to the other vehicle, according to a criminal arrest affidavit.
The name of the other driver was not listed in the arrest report.
Wooten was stopped a few blocks away and police say his eyes were glassy and he appeared unsteady on his feet. Wooten was taken to Orient Road Jail, where he remained Thursday night on $3,000 bond.
