TAMPA - Tampa firefighters were running up the stairs today at the 42-story Bank of America Plaza.
Not to fight fires. To train for the fourth annual Climb Tampa on March 21 at the downtown office tower.
The race - professionally timed for those wanting to climb to the roof - is designed to raise money for the American Lung Association.
The preregistration fee is $25, plus a minimum $100 fundraising commitment. Walkup registration is $150.
As of today, 700 climbers have registered and raised $87,000, according to a news release. The association hopes to raise $130,000 this year.
Registered climbers can use Bank of America Plaza to train from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays.
Registration closes March 18.
