TALLAHASSEE - Florida's Attorney General is warning residents about companies offering to file unemployment compensation claims for a fee - because online filing is free and secure.
Bill McCollum and the Agency for Workforce Innovation issued an advisory Thursday, warning residents of the scam.
Some states have reported complaints from consumers who said they searched online for unemployment claims and were directed to sites for private companies promising to handle their claims for a fee and required Social Security numbers. Consumers later realized the claims were never processed.
