A 49-year-old Zephyrhills man died early this morning on U.S. 301 in Thonotosassa after his pickup truck veered off the road and struck a tree, troopers said.
Mark J. Seoane was driving north about 3:43 a.m. when his 2003 Chevrolet S-10 veered onto the eastern shoulder of U.S. 301 north of Dead River Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Seoane overcorrected to get back onto the roadway, troopers said. The truck traveled onto the western shoulder, overturned and struck a tree.
Seoane was not wearing a seat belt and died of his injuries, troopers said.
Investigators do not know why Seoane initially veered off the roadway. Toxicology tests are pending.
