TAMPA - The Freedom baseball team is on a roll.

Senior right-hander Chris Bonti turned in a quality start with five scoreless innings, and the Patriots offense managed enough support Friday night in a 6-3 win against visiting Newsome. The win was Freedom's (5-2) fourth straight and fifth in the past six games.

"We've never had a winning season here at Freedom and this is the best record we've ever had," Bonti said. "We really didn't expect this kind of start, but we're just playing hard."

Bonti struck out three and yielded just three hits - a pair of infield singles in the first and a double off the bat of Tyler McGuire (2-for-4) in the fifth - before exiting with a 4-0 lead, thanks in part to an RBI single in the third from Joel Britt and Dexture McCall's two-run single in the fourth.

Newsome's Kyle Copack and Jake Farley both had hits and scored in the sixth, and Dan Jackson hit a solo home run in the seventh, but the Wolves (3-4) ultimately came up short in their attempt to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

TIGERS WIN: Nick Lockwood went 2-for-2 with a home run and three runs scored to power Jesuit to a 6-3 win against Robinson.

Lockwood's solo homer in the fifth broke a tie at 3 as the Tigers (8-0) stayed unbeaten while snapping the Knights' four-game win streak. Junior Willi Martin tossed a complete game for Jesuit, yielding six hits (two after the first inning) while striking out seven.

Robinson (4-3) did all of its damage in the first, getting RBI singles from Neal Cota and Josh Smith and a sac fly from Peter Cordero.
