ST. PETERSBURG - Armed with colored markers, paper, scissors and equal measures of creativity and concentration, youngsters made their own handprints today at the Saturday Morning Market in downtown St. Petersburg.
The handprints from the second annual Hands Across the Bay event, along with thousands of others created at schools, child care organizations and elsewhere, will be transported to Tallahassee for the Hanging of the Hands later this month at the state Capitol.
The project is part of Children's Week, a statewide grass-roots effort to promote children and family issues.
