TAMPA - Upset that a woman declined to have sex with him, a 56-year-old Tampa man stabbed her in the upper torso, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Deputies arrested Valentin Sanchez on Sunday morning at 14102 N. 20th St.
He was charged with attempted first-degree murder.
At 7:25 p.m. Saturday outside the woman's Tampa home, Sanchez talked to her for a few minutes and told her he wanted sex, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. The woman, who isn't romantically involved with Sanchez, declined to have sex with him.
"He then threatens her and tells her he's going to talk to her probation officer," Carter said.
The woman still would not have sex with him, so he grabbed her, threw her to the ground and stabbed her in the upper torso, Carter said.
The woman ran back into her apartment, and later an emergency crew took her to Tampa General Hospital, Carter said.
Her condition wasn't immediately available.
Sanchez remained in Orient Road Jail today. No bail has been set.
