Clearwater police have arrested a 25-year-old Clearwater man on charges he manufactured checks and then used them to get cash.
Richard Joseph Campbell, of 3021 State Road 590, No. 420, was arrested March 6 and charged with two counts of scheme to defraud, said Elizabeth Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman.
Investigators have confiscated one desktop computer and one laptop computer.
Campbell is accused of manufacturing checks from December 2008 through March 2009, Watts said.
He cashed two of his counterfeit checks in exchange for cash at the Circle Food Mart, 601 Mandalay Ave., on Jan. 18, and two more at a Super Sonic at 724 S. Missouri Ave. the following day, Watts said.
