TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Charlie Crist and other state officials joined with families and colleagues of fallen police officers to dedicate a memorial in their honor.
The Florida Police Benevolent Association unveiled the life-size bronze memorial Monday in the state Capitol's plaza. It depicts an officer coming to the aid of a fallen comrade.
Three time capsules are embedded inside with pictures and messages from family members and colleagues of many of the 707 Florida state and local officers who have died in the line of duty since recordkeeping began. That includes eight who died last year.
